Painting Flowers. Morning/Evening Light

morning_small.jpg

Flowers are so colourful, so varied in forms, beautifully asymmetric and so fragile…

Same flowers will look absolutely different in the morning, day and evening light, not to mention the countless backgrounds options which might add beautiful reflections to the flowers and make them look very different.

Here I share an example of quick all prima roses sketch, painted in the morning light. For this painting I’ve chosen the flowers of all shades of light colours: pale pink, pale yellow, white and pale royal blue background…For me, these very light-coloured flowers kind of correlate with the morning vibes.

Morning light makes these delicate colours even more soft and fragile - sort of compliments them…

Evening light creates absolutely different story. It gives beautiful long shadows, the colours of the flowers become more warm and rich in the light, especially if it is a sunny day evening light.
