Sky Studies…Plein Air

We all live under the same sky, but it is never the same…

It’s so beautiful and changable, that we just can not get enough of it. I really like to watch the sky whenever I go out…

I like huge fluffy clouds in the evening sky which look really spectacular at sunset.

Sometimes they look like different animals and huge birds or even like a unicorn… Just look at this photo!

This “pink cloud over the hills” was a quick sky study. It was an evening view from my balcony. Whenever I go on vacaion I take my paints/brushes always with me…and paint! -

visual diary reminds me of places I have visited…

When you are painting sky from life (not from Photo) - it changes so damn quickly - that you have no choice but paint mostly your impression of it.

I usually quite in a hurry when painting sky - because you have just 10-15-minutes and then the sky changes again and again… Therefore my color palette always look like something has just bumped into it…:)

Evening Sky Study. One of my quick gouasch sketches.

I live in the apartment at the 5th floor of the 16 stores building. If I do not have time to go out - I just go to the 16th floor and paint the sky views from there.

Kind of meditation I would say…

Next blog post will be about drawing/sketching seasonal summer food… I usually do such sketches in ink/ink pen, or markers just for the practice of drawing. Who knows, May be I will inspire someone to start drawing ?? :)
