“Something Out Of Nothing…”

This blog post is about my paper collages series named “Something Out Of Nothing”.

I use only old magazines cut outs and other hand painted pieces of paper for my collages.

I think it is a good idea - to give a new life to something which is no longer in use…To be honest, I like the idea of conscious consuming as well. That’s why I have created this series. Each of these collage has a small story behind it and I will share some of them with you today :)

This one was the 1st of the series. Done during this spring COVID19 Self-isolation.

One evening, my eye was caught by the blurry image of a woman in one of the magazines. This woman “in lockdown”, surrounded by the myriads of things passing by -was kind of allusion to what was happening to all of us at that time…

This one - was also done during self-isolation.

This time I created an abstract “Still Life With Blue Vase”. I took one of my watercolours as a background and just added small pieces of paper to create the Still Life with some depth in it…

Again…- “Self Isolation time”. I did it as an abstract collage.. But when I finished it, I suddenly recognised the face of a woman, wearing a fancy hat with yellow trim, with one of her eyes open wide, and another one closed. And the word “GO!” is on her red lips… I wonder if anyone else notices this face or it is just my imagination?

This paper collage - has started from the scratch, and finished in an image of a woman seating with her back turned to us.. She is looking thru the open window, enjoying the twilight with a cup of tea in her hand…

I like to work with paper cut-outs… Starting a new collage - you never know what you will get at the end…

This collage is a tribute to all the Moms of 2 children.

We are doing hell of a lot each day, living between two worlds: 1st-is the imaginary world of our children, and another one - is the world of our everyday life as adults..

This paper collage has started from a small piece of paper and unconciosly resulted in this image…

Creating it I recalled beautiful Giotto’s frescoes featuring the life of St. Francis.

So I named it “St. Francis Of Assisi and his pigeons.”

These are just some of my collages. Most of them are FRAMED and available for sale at “COLLAGES” section of my shop.

Prints of my collages are ALSO AVAILABLE upon request.
