Hiking In Russia. Great Sevastopol Trail

Great Sevastopol Trail - is a famous hiking trail, 119 km long in the South of Russia. Recently I’ve been hiking along just one part of this trail. It was an unforgettable experience…

The starting point of our hiking route was at Laspinsky pass (N44°25’51” E33°42’51”) and we finished at Balaklava embankment (N44°29’51” E33°36’00”).

The overal distance of this part of the trail was 18 km, but it took us almost 8 hours to complete this route…

This was kind of adventure! I expected it to be more easier but there were quite a lot of climbing and descending…

While hiking on this trail we’ve been carrying easy backpacks with some water and food only. But on our way we met many couples with really heavy backpacks, who were traveling along the whole Sevastopol trail (119km) and slept in a tent..

At the end of each hiking day we returned to a small seaside village Gurzuf nearby where we rented a room in a small hotel.

One of the most beautiful places on this trail was Cape Aya.

At that time it was covered by the yellow meadows of some flowers which created increadibly beutiful contrasts to the turquoise-blue sea.

If you dare one day to travel Russia and if you like hiking - I would definitely recommend you this trail!

It is of average difficulty, looks safe, equiped with info-desks and poles marked with route signs.

Plus you don’t have to sleep in the tent, if you don’t want to :) cause there are plenty of inexpensive small hotels at the end points of each trail’s segment or nearby.
